Arsene Wenger talks about Alexis Sanchez’s mentality after his rough week. The Chilean forward returns after an agitated week with Arsenal and Chile. However, Arsene Wenger has no concerns over the state of mind of Alexis Sanchez.
Alexis Sanchez saw his move to Manchester City fail. Furthermore, he saw two back to back defeats with his international team, Chile. In his first appearance with Gunners, the team lost 4-0 to Liverpool. To add fuel to fire, he suffered back to back defeats during the international break. Pep Guardiola was looking for a reunion with the former Barca forward. However, after the deadline day, the move did not seek through.
Now, Sanchez will move to Arsenal camo ahead of their home game against Bournemouth. In light to this, Arsene Wenger, in a conference, said:
“I have no doubt about Alexis’ mentality.”
“People question it, he needs to come back to full fitness – he wasn’t [fit] at Liverpool, it was his first game.
“He’s strong mentally and hopefully he’ll be back very quickly to his best.”
On talking about Arsenal’s attempts to rope-in Thomas Lemar, he furthermore added:
“I believe the transfer market is over. There was a lot going on, it’s very difficult for me to speak about it because the most important thing for us now is to focus on the next game.
“My view is that it’s very difficult to speak about that because Lemar is now in Monaco and Sanchez is here and focuses on here and we have to keep a certain confidentiality about the transfer negotiations.”
“In the players’ minds they have no clarity, it’s not a way to work. It’s uncomfortable and every single manager in the league will say it’s time to kick that out before the season starts.”
