Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of ICC World cup due to the thumb injury which occurred during the clash against defending champions Australia. Risabh Pant who was added as standby for Dhawan has been named as the official replacement for him in the team.
Shikhar Dhawan was injured during batting against Australia, where Pat Cummins bouncer hits his left finger with a nasty blow. After the injury, Dhawan still stood strong and went to smash a hundred. Later, it was revealed that Dhawan was ruled out of competition for 10-15 days. However, BCCI today declared that Dhawan will miss the rest of the tournament and Pant will replace him in the squad.
India, who were in the second position in the points table, will surely miss his services as the left-handed batsman is in terrific form.
Meanwhile, Risabh Pant who was not included in the team performed a stellar performance in IPL but not selected for World cup. So it will remain a question that how well Pant will perform in the tournament!
