Ahmed Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad

An aggressive opening batsman, Ahmed Shehzad has played more than 50 one-day internationals since making his debut in early 2009 at the age of just 17. His first-class debut came in January 2007 when he was 15 years old and good performances for Pakistan’s under-19 team followed. Shehzad played four ODIs in 2009 and returned to the Pakistan team in 2011, when he scored his first one-day ton in the lead-up to the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. His 115 from 104 against New Zealand secured his place in the Cup squad and he played five matches during that tournament. The batsman returned to the Pakistan 50-overs side in mid-2013 after a two-year absence and has been a regular member of the team since, scoring three centuries between November 2013 and March 2014. That same period saw Shehzad make his Test debut. In November 2014 he posted his best score in a Test, 176, before he suffered a fractured skull after being hit by a Corey Anderson bouncer in a dramatic dismissal. Shehzad returned to the ODI team one month later to stake his claim on a World Cup berth.

He was part of Pakistan’s 2011 World Cup team which made the semi-finals.
